Their works will be on display on the premises of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin till the end of December.

26-27 November / premises of CMC

“Stage Under Construction – Prologue”, the new event produced by the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin showcases the visual as the foundation of a theatre performance and the content inherent in it. The Festival makes one aware that scenography and costumes are not just a mere decoration and backdrop to the thespians; they do not come into being in isolation from the texts and the content of a stage show. Set and costume designers are creators of a stage show. They in fact provide the framework of a performance. The new festival to be launched by the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin has been created with a view to honouring and highlighting the work of the masters of set and costume design.

As part of the Prologue, the first ever exhibition focusing on the creative output of Academy Award winner Ewa Braun, including among others her set design for Schindler’s List, will be opened. Janusz Kapusta will show his signature “K-dron”, which he himself describes as “an overlooked shape lodged between art and science.” Boris Kudlička will present the new instalment of his “Reflection of an Image”, an installation which was awarded the “Performance Architecture” gold medal at the 2015 Prague Quadrennial, which Lech Majewski will display his video art series. The Festival-goers will also have a chance to see Leszek Mądzik’s Susanna and the Elders, a play performed by the Wrocław Pantomime Theatre, as well as an installation referring to Mirror, his 2013 performance.
