We invite you to a special screening of a never before shown movie that was most probably created in the spring of 1940 in Lublin. His creator is an anonymous German merchant who filmed the city centre and a part of Jewish quarter in Lublin.

Last year, Lublin 1940 was found in the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. This movie is absolutely unique – it has been so far the one and only long-length film recording presenting wartime Lublin in good quality.
The movie is subject to legal restrictions and it is impossible to obtain its copy. It is only available in the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. However, the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin has obtained the Museum’s permisson to organise a special premiere screening for Lublin citizens.
The movie screening will be followed by a panel discussion with
Dr. Adam Kopciowski (UMCS), Jacek Nowakowski (US Holocaust Memorial Museum), Marcin Fedorowicz (The “Grodzka Gate ‐ NN Theatre” Centre), Krzysztof Banach (The State Museum at Majdanek) and Krzysztof Mucha.
Organisers:
US Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington
Department of Jewish Culture and History, Culture Studies, UMCS
