Founded in Kharkiv by Sergey Babkin (Сергей Бабкин) and Andrey “Sun” Zaporozhets (Андрей Запорожец) in 2000, 5’nizza is one of the biggest music phenomena of contemporary Ukraine. An infectious blend of diverse styles – reggae, ragga, hip hop, beatbox, cabaret music, jazz, and even punk rock. To become successful, they did not need to avail themselves of monstrous funding, expansive advertising or industry connections. They have gained impressive following and adoration of fans thanks to their dedication, artistry, and – most primarily – their unique style. Artistic freedom and experimentation, eclecticism as well as social commitment, however, devoid of in-your-face didacticism, these are all ingredients of the music by 5’nizza. Critically acclaimed, they are compared by reviewers to international world music legends such as Bob Marley and Manu Chao. Reunited in 2015, 5’nizza has been since re-embraced by fans and newcomers alike, inexhaustibly touring the biggest concert venues in Europe.
