Lustmord

Lustmord (born Brian Williams) is a British creator of experimental music, pioneer of ambient, who despite not being a mainstream performer attracts a considerable following. This is due both to the quality of his audio productions, which are total and immersive in nature, and to the visualisations that complement his music. Lustmord has been actively experimenting with sound since the 1980s. When asked why he creates music, he responded that “he desired to create sounds that he himself wanted to hear and listen to.” For that reason alone, his music is so multidimensional and difficult to pigeonhole. To him, music is an experience, a journey that he would like to take his audiences on, which finishes when the last sound of the live performance (or the last studio recording) fades away. Two of his albums were recorded in grottos, caves and mines – sites the atmosphere of which matches the originality of his music. September 2016 saw the release of his latest record “Dark Matter”, which is the fruit of his 25-year-long labour of love: painstaking collection of sounds recorded by NASA and other space research centres.

Brian Williams is also professionally involved in the creation of sound effects for Hollywood blockbusters, video games, and advertising. In his capacity as a sound producer and a musician, he has collaborated with cult bands among others Throbbing Gristle, and Tool. Although he selects his concert venues with care and – because of that – he is known for performing very rarely, he is noted for his predilection for industrial spaces: warehouses, deserted factories and unused powerplants. This will be his first ever performance in an opera hall.
