"How to Build Theatre?"*, 23 November 2015, Monday

Living up to the mounting expectations, the newly established institution aims to draw on the experience and expertise of outstanding personalities so as to showcase the most engaging events and cultural trends.

The first arts event to be held in the still-unfinished interior of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin is firmly rooted in the tradition and serves as a reminder of the 250th anniversary of the inception of the public theatre in Poland. At the same time, it alludes to the universal message conveyed by the never-ending narrative of "The Theatre Under Construction".

The yet undiscovered nooks and crannies and still surprising auditoria, corridors and foyer of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin will be host to theatre practitioners who throughout their career have physically and symbolically grappled with the question of "how to build theatre?" During their performances, both the edifice and its on-going history will constitute an integral element of the story-telling spectacle directed by Tomasz Man.  

Krystyna Janda, Tomasz Karolak, Jan Klata, Profesor Jerzy Limon, Maciej Nowak, Jacek Poniedziałek, Włodzimierz Staniewski and Michał Zadara will talk about the building of theatre in their own lives, drawing in an exceptional way the audience into the magic of the creative process.

Stalwarts of the Lublin cultural scene will also make their presence known: Profesor Leszek Mądzik, theatre director and founder of "Scena Plastyczna KUL", Janusz Opryński, founder of the Provisorium Theatre and Artistic Director of the Centre for Culture in Lublin, Tomasz Pietrasiewicz, Managing Director of the Grodzka Gate-NN Theatre Centre in Lublin as well as Bolesław Stelmach, architect of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures and Piotr Franaszek, Managing Director of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin. 

Their videotaped stories will be incorporated into the main narrative, providing it with more contexts and the local ingredient.
