"Ball at the Savoy" on 18 June in the Opera Hall

Wed, 08/06/2016 - 10:46

Staged twice by the Musical Theatre in Lublin (in 1962 and in 1989), the operetta garnered the acclaim of both critics and audiences. This is truly a musical operetta characterised by unforgettable and infectious music. It was none other than the composer Paul Abraham that as early as in the 1930s imported jazz onto the grand stages of Europe. Apart from the musical quality, what is so appealing about "Ball at the Savoy" is the impressive number of dances typical of the interwar period (foxtrot, shimmy, tango, slow fox) which to a large extent inform the elegant choreography of the operetta!

"Ball at the Savoy" is both beautiful and mesmerising while the motifs highlighted in this particular adaptation are bound to inspire new audiences.
