The fundamental tenet of street photography is that nothing in the image is posed or arranged. Street photographers observe, notice and capture those things that others simply don’t see. Some photographers have the gift of predicting events; someone dressed unusually will in a moment be caught in a sun-ray, or a vehicle passing by will briefly cover up an advertisement, or someone hurrying will create an interesting, blurred background. For most street photos, there also a huge element of luck.

The Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin is honoured to invite you to the one and only musical stage performance of the 21st century in Lublin - the theatre show Polita directed by Janusz Józefowicz, the artistic director of Studio Buffo. The music in Polita is composed by Janusz Stokłosa. The musical will be held on 11 September 2016 in the Opera Hall in the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures. The spectacle was based on the life of Pola Negri, a Polish actress, one of the most notable movie stars in the history of cinema. The artistic world had a chance to discover and appreciate her phenomenal voice due to the breakthrough in cinema - the emergence of sound movies. Pola Negri’s spectacular success in Hollywood can be ascribed to her outstanding abilities and good fortune, but first and foremost hard work. In Polita, the role of Pola Negri will be played by Natasza Urbańska, a Polish actress, singer and dancer. The use of stereoscopy technique and the creation of virtual actors and actresses as well as virtual scenography on the 22-meter screen, allows Urbańska to co-star with such great figures as Charlie Chaplin and Ernest Lubitsch or dance with Rudolph Valentino. The 3D projection of Polita is possible thanks to the materials created by the Platige Image studio. The studio is known for, among others, Tomek Bagiński’s movie Katedra, which was nominated to the Academy Awards.
