Kumernis, Or How the Holy Lady Grew a Beard

Start
End
Set design to Kumernis, Or How the Holy Lady Grew a Beard is one of the most stunning examples of set designs by Agata Duda-Gracz who is one of the best Polish directors. The daughter of a famous painter creates theatre productions in which image dominates. Agata Duda-Gracz is both author of scenography and costumes. Kumernis, Or How the Holy Lady Grew a Beard is an extremely emotional and, at the same time, brave play. It represents a contemporary and demanding theatre, which gives a lot in return. Starring Magdalena Kumorek, known to a wider audience for her performance in Polish series Przepis na życie, and Cezary Łukaszewicz, known for his appearance in Aż po sufit, a TV series, plays her love interest.

Festival of Set and Costume Design “Stage Under Construction”

Start
End
“Stage under Construction”, a name for a new event produced by the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin, is not a coincidence. “Theatre Under Construction” was a common name for the institution that has been built for over 40 years. Today, the architectural severity of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin highlights the endless process of its construction. This is an open space that stimulates and inspires to create new stage arrangements. Scenography is an arena around which thoughts, conceptions and ideas of the creators of the play accumulate and collide. This is how we think about the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin; its ascetic interiors are like an invitation to create. Inside the building everything is uncovered and unadorned – spaces are glazed, walls are not plastered, installation elements are not covered. This is the way we would like to construct the programme of the “Stage Under Construction”. We want to show to people things that are usually hidden, i.e., the work of set designers, costume designers – the very backstage act of creating a theatre play.

Lament. In memory of Tadeusz Różewicz. Polish Dance Theatre – Poznań Ballet

Start
End
Spectacular dance theatre play. This unique combination of choreography, music, multimedia and poetry creates an exceptional mystery of dance. Using Tadeusz Różewicz’s poems, theatre artists create an intimate story about childhood, trauma and art that has a therapeutic and expiatory role. Lament is the last play by Ewa Wycichowska, a choreographer who was a long-time director of Polish Dance Theatre.
